They're coming!!! || Bend, Oregon Photographer

I'm just a wee bit giddy because my brother and his family are coming over for their first visit to our new place this weekend! It will be short and sweet, but... the SWEET outweighs the short by a long shot!

I'm sure we'll spend some time sharing lots of our family memories, and hold discussions about their 3 new {pregnant} milk goats they are getting on Sunday!

In honor of their visit... I've re-published my article from True North Parenting Magazine's June/July 2012 issue about Planting Seeds of Memories - based on our trip to Alaska. You can read the entire article here on my travel blog.

And just for fun... here are a couple non-Alaska Irwin-Teichrow adventure images:

The Studio is OPEN! || Bend Oregon Photographer

Well, the outdoor studio at least!

I'm SO excited to share these images - not only were they the first official session on our new property, but just so happen to also be with longtime friends and their adorable daughters! What a treat for me, I'll always cherish this inaugural session! The best came (of course) at the last... so be sure and scroll through the whole set!

Seasons Changing - I love it! || Bend, Oregon Photographer

I love this time of year - when the hectic summer days settle into a nice routine, which is not any less hectic, but at least punctuated by the scheduled comings and goings of the school bell. I tend to thrive under that external motivator - and am thankful to have a bit more time to settle into our new home, and tend to my business with a bit more focus.

I also happen to love the routine and tradition of our back to school pictures - taken the morning of, and in front of our front door. I was very pleasantly surprised that the light on our porch is just as nice as our previous house... and I love how they turned out.

Here they are: Knucklehead #1 (AKA Max, the 5th grader), and Knucklehead #2 (AKA Sam, the 3rd grader)

For the first time ever, Daddy gets to participate in first day of school mayhem - as it was his day off.

What {Melon Mayhem} looks like || Bend Oregon Photographer

Together with five other Oregon photographers I am continuing a lifestyle blogging project entitled "What ___________ looks like," an idea inspired by a group of photographers out of Montana.  On the third Monday of each month I will fill in the blank with my own word or concept, and link to the next photographer's blog until the circle is complete.  I hope you take the time to enjoy this monthly photographic journey, and enjoy each of our monthly projects.

What {Melon Mayhem} looks like.

I had the extreme pleasure of capturing the very first birthday party of the son of a dear friend (and amazing photographer), Julia – and quite honestly – had the BEST time. Julia was able to simply enjoy her time celebrating her baby’s very first (and DARLING) birthday party, and not worry about picking up her camera to capture the moments.

I adored the theme, who doesn’t love The Very Hungry Caterpillar? When Mr. Dean started nibbling on watermelon during dinner… I thought to myself, now here’s an opportunity for some really fun pictures, not knowing I’d be contributing to Melon Mayhem.

Clearly the images speak for themselves, and I can’t help but crack up, as I wonder how Julia will “get me back” as she threatened in the midst of the sticky, juicy silly mess of it all…

In the end, I have to wonder if this is better than a cake smash?

Melon Mayhem… It’s going to be a trend!

(Ha!)

Cutest theme ever...

Beginning of the end. A little nibble, leads to inspired Mayhem!

One of my favorite images. The pure joy and slight mortification of mama as she realizes whats happening here...

Mama can nuzzle all she wants... I'm still eating this delicious melon.

Yeah, baby! Squishy!

Can this be considered chaff?

Drippy goodness

Not letting a bit go to waste.

All done - all sticky!

The only real way to wash off in Central Oregon. With a Deschutes Brewery Growler filled with warm water.

All clean. All cozy.
You want some watermelon now, don't you!?

Now, head on over to Alisa Hayes' website and see what she's been up to this month!

Summer Fun - at Suttle Lake, Oregon || Bend, Oregon Photographer

It's been a busy summer, and I just wanted to share this quick image that certainly evokes FUN and Summer!

I photographed these boys jumping into Suttle Lake last weekend during the Soaring Spirits Survivor and Family Camp –  I'll save that (longer) post for another day... but for now - here are a couple of sweet "soaring spirits."
